BandsSSS
Liverpool's Short Sharp Shock (S.S.S.) is Earache Records' latest signing. The new self-titled CD is the band's first full-length and it is a welcome return to the sounds of 80's skate-thrash. S.S.S. takes a page from the early/mid 80's California metal scene and obvious points of comparison would be bands like Mustaine/Burton-era Metallica, Megadeth, and Exodus. Frontman Foxy explains: "The music, it breaks down barriers of all kinds. Don't know why or how, what with today's musical tastes of glitz and glam and watered down crap. Maybe thrash is such an old dinosaur that people have forgotten it and not it's new again..." Evile
Municiple Waste
Born in the sewers of Richmond, Virginia during 2000, with the aim of spreading the shred, Municipal Waste played their first gig at a Richmond New Year's Eve Keg party in 2000/2001. Blamed for inciting a small riot, Brendan Trache, Andy Harris, Tony Foresta and Ryan Waste went down a storm. As a result, the four swiftly started touring in small clubs; their blazing fast, raw thrash drew from the tradition of DRI, Suicidal Tendencies, 'Animosity'-era Corrosion Of Conformity, Nuclear Assault and Attitude Adjustment. Graduating to the road from the dirty bunker type garage behind Ryan's house (a place where he used to put on punk and metal shows), Municipal Waste toured incessantly throughout 2001/2 in the USA and Mexico. Bonded By Blood
Rising out of Pomona, in the Los Angeles, Ca. outer suburbs, Bonded by Blood have rapidly emerged as one of theyoungest (average age just 18) and arguably one of most proficient of the New Thrash wave of acts pouring out of that city in recent times.Formed in the summer of 2005 by a 17 year old hardcore-punk-thrash driven vocalist (Aladdin), he soon teamed up with like-minded young guitar shredders (Alex Lee and Juan Boogie), then found a drummer influenced by more classic metal (Carlos Cervesa), and finally added a bassist who was more than a little "out there " (RuDo) to round out the line-up. Although partly influenced by different styles of music, they all met through a love of one genre: THRASH METAL. Having one major fave band in common - namely, 80's Thrash stalwarts- Exodus, they decided to name themselves after the bands genre-defining classic debut. Thus, Bonded by Blood was born. Ironically, none of band were actually born when the album first hit the racks back in 1985!The band's prowess was noticed when they won first place in the TNT productions battle of the bands at Riverside, which included over 250 bands. That was no mean feat in a notoriously competitive LA scene- but as a young band starting at the bottom of the food chain, Bonded By Blood knew a solid practise regime was required to hone their razor sharp riffs with one single purpose- to become a respected LA thrash metal band, perhaps one worthy of eventually following in the footsteps of the 'Big 4' Thrash acts of the 80s. Time will tell, but 2 decades on from the origination of the genre, the big 4 have since become part of the regular metal mainsteam, leaving legions of fans starved of the Old-school thrash vibes. Bonded By Blood aim to change all that - and hence lead the pack of bands playing old-school Thrash but with an added energy, fun and youthful vigour, with a modern twist all of their own making. Bonded By Blood are no mere 80's rehash.Weeks before the EP was released however, Bonded by Blood had received an offer from the label which is doing the most to put the new Thrash wave of acts on the global map- Earache Records. So, naturally, in September of 2007, Bonded by Blood and Earache inked for a long-term worldwide recording deal. Gama Bomb
In the rot-infested bowels of a boarded-up bunker, five brave soldiers are steeling themselves for an over-the-top assault against the plague ripping through the metal masses. As the brain-dead hordes claw and scratch at their fortified safehouse, GAMA BOMB have armed themselves with an arsenal of razor fine riffs and rapier wits as they prepare to take on the brain-sucking musical dead. Shielding themselves away from the infestation some years back, they’ve sustained their will on the torch-bearing rations of yesteryear’s thrash titans, sharpening their skills and perfecting their blistering attack in hundreds of field-tests and soundlab simulations. Early victories against the metal malaise sent legions of thrashers to their side, bolstering the unit’s already sub-nuclear powers. These battle-hardened desperadoes are now preparing a full-on thrash attack in 2008 with the ultimate weapon Citizen Brain and sending out an automated message of blood-soaked hope to survivors: boils and ghouls, GAMA BOMB are coming for you… Dekapitator
Dekapitator started as an idea between Matt Hellfiend, Dan Bulldoze and Andy Maniac in the mid-90s. Their vinyl collections were growing, as was their distaste for modern metal. On a mission to destroy false-thrash Black Metal spinoff bands, Hellfiend and Bulldoze started auditioning different drummers in '96, until Andy came back into the picture to complete the thrashing trio. The trio recorded their split 7" with Nunslaughter in the winter of 96/97 and played shows with Dark Funeral, Birthright, Lord Weird Slough Feg, and many other local metal acts, as well as the San Bernadino Metalfest, sandwiched between the Haunted and The Ravenous. The band then recorded their debut album "We Will Destroy... You Will Obey" in 1999 with guitar guru James Murphy. Shortly thereafter Dekapitator sought to add a second guitarist, first bringing in Wes Blackwulf, who was later replaced by Brad Attitude, which also didn't last, leaving the band as a trio once again. Dekapitator continued to play throughout the Bay Area, including supporting slots for Exodus and Thor, among others.Upon reconvening a couple of years ago to get things rolling again, the band recruited new guitarist D. Attacker. Dekapitator began writing for their next full-length and playing out again. In 2007 the band completed work on said full-length, “The Storm Before the Calm, and through a long-standing friendship, joined the Relapse Records roster. Fueled By Fire
Starting in 2002 with Carlos Gutierrez on drums and Sal Zepeda on guitar the two began to put a band together not knowing how far they would take it. Carlos and Sal started to ask their close friends to join the band and this is when they got Adrian Gallego to play Bass. As they went through a few vocalists, Rick Rangel came to a practice one day, got on the mic and joined as the vocalist. As time passed, Adrian dropped out and Rick picked up the bass and Fueled by Fire picked up another singer (Ray Fiero). As they progressed they decided to pick up another guitarist and that’s where Anthony Vasquez joined as bassist and Rick switched to playing the guitar. This was the line up for a few months through 2003 until vocalist Ray left the band in January of 2004 and the band began the search for a new vocalist. It only took Fueled by Fire one day to find Jovanny Herrera (AKA - Gio) from East LA. Gio was the first and the last guy asked to try out. The band only needed to hear one song, which happened to be an original that Gio wrote plus he played guitar. So it was decided, Gio would be the new vocalist and the third guitarist for Fueled by Fire. Within the first two weeks of Gio being in the band they were in the studio adding Gio's vocals to the first four track demo - Life...Death ...and Fueled by Fire! A month later the band played their first Whiskey gig with this lineup and the response was overwhelming. With many shows to follow, Fueled by Fire had been creating more songs along with playing a variety of covers from influences like, Iron Maiden's Killers, Trooper, Hollowed Be Thy Name, and Prowler, Testament's Over the Wall, Judas Priest’s Hot Rockin, Exodus’ Pirahna, Slayer's Die By the Sword, and Megadeth’s Wake Up Dead. Decadence
"Our music has evolved into what we call Melodic Thrash Metal and we work hard on this genre which is new and unique. The experiment with extreme female vocals, using both growl techniques for the extreme audience, as well as Thrash Metal influenced screams for the outside crowd, make our sound even more specific. Decadence is often called a live band and love playing live as much as possible and this is when our music literally comes alive. The genre we play, that we call Melodic Thrash Metal, can be described as ordinary Thrash Metal with the heaviness of Melodic Death Metal with no keyboards. The vocals are extreme, aggressive female vocals combined with growl techniques as well as thrash metal screams. The original combination of these effects gives a specific sound which has evoked significant international enthusiasm." Warbringer
In an era when vintage metal t-shirts are in vogue and bands worshiping at the altar of every crossover band that released a demo or EP in the ’80s are crawling out of the woodwork, LA thrashers WARBRINGER are cauterizing the competition with a sound that recalls all the classics without being derivative. Never before has the evil, no-holds barred sound of Baloff-era Exodus, Slayer’s Hell Awaits, and Kreator’s Pleasure to Kill been revived and revitalized for the 21st century in such a strikingly inspired and pure fashion. After recording their self-released EP to unanimous rave reviews, appearing on the Speed Kills Again! compilation, playing to thrash-starved crowds across the west coast and attracting serious label interest, they’re ready to take the next step with their full-length debut courtesy of their new home worldwide, Century Media Records. Merciless Death
With a combination of speed, aggression and hooks not heard since legendary 80's albums such as Slayer's "hell awaits" or Exodus' "bonded by blood", MERCILESS DEATH have arrived to stake their claim as the unparalleled leaders of the fast growing worldwide thrash metal revival with "EVIL IN THE NIGHT"! They most recently released "REALM OF TERROR"! Deadfall
Deadfall formed in April 2005 by Mike Thompson and lead guitarist Dave Turner, following the demise of previous band 'Polaris'. After recruiting drummer Pete Mather and bass player Jimmi Mansell, Deadfall went from strength and strength by winning the 2005 Nottingham Battle of the Bands, and releasing the 6 track EP 'Ordeal By Fire. In mid 2006, Ryan Ashley would replace the lead duties for a brief stint, as the band would release the full length album 'Fatal Deterrent' and the 3 track EP 'Vicious Vendetta', appear at the Bloodstock Metal Festival and support thrash legends Exodus. Deadfall disbanded for a short while in May 2007, until re-forming in July to continue gigging as a 3-piece. But musical differences and line-up problems led to the further break up in late 2007. The band re-recorded the track 'Resistance Is Futile' in October 2007 for the Earache Records comp 'Thrashing Like A Maniac', which was released January 2008. Good luck to all those keeping thrash alive in the 21st century. LazarusThis band"s information isn"t available yet Toxic Holocaust
TOXIC HOLOCAUST mutated into existence in 1999, when Joel Grind merged his love for classic punk and metal and the flash of L.A. hard rock into his ideal band. Like his influences - Bathory, Venom, English Dogs, Possessed, Broken Bones - TOXIC HOLOCAUST featured blazing riffs, gravel-throated vocals, and a deadly fixation on the evil in man and a post-apocalyptic world. Grind wrapped all of these elements up with a DIY attitude and begin writing and recording material almost instantly. As the band’s driving force, Grind wrote and recorded all of the material. After several well-received demos, Grind was ready to take the band to the next level and, in 2003, began recording what would become TOXIC HOLOCAUST’s debut full-length Evil Never Dies. Evil Never Dies was released in the fall of ’03 and was followed up with a number of TOXIC HOLOCAUST tours. A string of vinyl-only EP’s and split releases followed. Upon returning home, Grind quickly began writing the follow-up to Evil Never Dies, using a much more primitive approach emphasizing his punk rock roots. An Overdose Of Death is an unstoppable juggernaut of infectious riffs, punk attitude and unforgettable anthems that could be the soundtrack to civil unrest in a post-apocalyptic world gone mad. Gravelord, Wild Dogs, Future Shock, War Game, Nuke the Cross, War is Hell, and the list of incredible songs goes on. MutantThis band"s information isn"t available yet Transcend

It's really no surprise that Avenger of Blood came together in San Francisco. The city had been the hotbed of American thrash in the early eighties, and has spawned some of the genre's heavyweights. Influenced by both American and European thrash, guitarist Eric assembled Avenger in 2003 with fellow members Marc (guitars), Shannon (drums), and Shawn (bass). They released a demo the following year, and then up and moved to the City of Sin, Las Vegas. There the band consolidated their sound, played a number of shows, and built up a following. Their chops scored them a record deal with indie label JCM in 2005, and the band released their debut -- Complete Annihilation -- shortly thereafter. The next year or so was to be a bit of an upheaval time for Avenger of Blood, as they exited their relationship with both guitarist Eric (he would be replaced by Sal Lalli) and their record label. Fortunately, the band's reputation -- through successful performances at some of the country's premier metal-fests (Northwest Deathfest 2, Minneapolis Mayhem 1 and 2, and Thunder In the North, to name a few) -- was enough to pique the interest of New York label Heavy Artillery, who put the band on their Speed Kills...Again compilation.
